Columbia River Kayaking specializes in taking groups out on the water on the lower Columbia River, and we would be happy to put together a custom kayaking trip for your group. We can tailor your experience to emphasize education, whether you're looking to learn about the Chinookan people who lived along the Columbia River for thousands of years; the Lewis and Clark expedition, who first explored this area by land for the United States; natural history, including plants, birds, salmon, forests and geology; kayaking skills, from boat handling to navigation to rolling a kayak, or we can just set you up for good old fun and games on the water. We have had groups here in the past that include various Boy Scout troops from as far away as Wisconsin, Lewis and Clark College's Masters in Education program, ecumenical and church groups, schools from Washington, Oregon and Idaho and families of all sizes.

The Elochoman Slough Marina is a focus of Wahkiakum County recreational and economic activity. Boaters from Portland and Vancouver, as well as Ilwaco and Astoria, flock to the Elochoman Slough Marina because of its location, its historical river town amenities, and the pristine rural character of the surrounding land. Both commercial and recreational fishermen also frequent the Elochoman Slough Marina, especially during salmon fishing windows in the spring and the fall. The marina also offers cabins, recreational vehicle hook-ups and dry land camping.

The Monument Visitor Centers including Johnston Ridge and The Forest Learning Center are now closed for the season until late spring. Hwy 504 is gated at Coldwater Lake. You can still check out the view on the Volcanocam . If you can't see the mountain on the volcanocam you may want to wait for a nicer day as amenities and sights to see are very limited in the winter on the highway. The 24 year-old Mt. St. Helens Visitor Center at milepost 5 is still open if you have time on the way down. Take a Virtual Drive up the Highway right now starting at the Mount St. Helens Forest Learning Center. If you have room on your plastic - the helicopter tour of Mount St. Helens will be the highlight of your trip - see the crater up close and personal and experience this volcanic eruption first-hand - reservations start in January.
